Restaurant Review

Where should I eat? I feel like that is one of the most important questions when you’re traveling. Well, at least it is for me. I don’t remember who reccomended going to the Indio Feliz but I thank whoever it was.

The Indio Feliz is seriously one the coolest restaurants I’ve ever been to. It’s decor is one of a kind. Walking the front door, there are hundreds, thousands of business cards and different currencies plastered to the ceiling. It looked like a giant pirate ship. It’s three stories high and there is a bar on each level.

It’s a little pricey for the usual Peruvian standards but it was well worth it and also, the portions were great. My mother and I got piña coladas and oof! They were so strong! Wow. So, yeah. Just keep that in mind if you’re going to order an alcoholic drink.

The Indio Feliz: Delicious Food

The Indio Feliz is French cuisine mixed with Peruvian cuisine. Seeing that I’ve only gone once because it’s very far away from me, I don’t know what dishes to recommend.

I really loved the Chicken in Mango Sauce. The Tiny Child ordered Pollo a la Plancha with french fries, which was terribly boring with all the cool options there were.

I’m pretty sure my dad got something beefy with mushrooms. (I think. I can’t find the pictures anywhere.)

Gluten-Free and Vegan Options

Okay, so. When I went I didn’t ask about anything being gluten-free because I was getting lunch and nothing seemed to indicate the presence of gluten in the Chicken in Mango Sauce. But! If you’re celiac, make sure to mention it, because they serve bread to the table. FYI.

That being said, I do believe that they do have a few vegan options. There was an avocado, mango…. cup thing? as an appetizer, which was vegan. Actually I can’t vouch for that because, looking at the (few) pictures they have on their website, they seem to serve a lot of meat. This wouldn’t be my first pick for a vegan restaurant.

Their website leaves a lot to be desired. I would like to see the full menu??? Hello? It’s a restaurant. I want to know what they have. All the options. I want to see. Not just pictures of some of the plates. Sorry, that sounds grouchy, but I really would appreciate seeing everything. Also, it’s not hard. Just upload a scan of the menu. Simple.

My One Drawback

I only have one bad thing to say about the Indio Feliz and that is that the staff that served us that day were absolutely miserable. My mom told me not to write that in my review but I’m still peeved.

Look, if they didn’t want us to sit on the third floor, they could have just said so. But he huffed and puffed and complained the whole time. I wish he would have just said, “Hey, right now the third floor is closed. Would you mind sitting on the second one? Thanks!” It truly would have been that simple.

Another thing that irked me was that we were missing something, a dish of some sort, I can’t remember what right now, but I asked him and he’s said: “I’m coming with it! Be patient.”

Truly. I normally hate speaking up but I was just curious. I wasn’t even criticizing him. I just wanted to know. So. Yeah. It’s been six months and I still think about it.

I guess… just don’t be demanding when you go? Hahahaha I dunno, just beware.
