Gluten-free breakfast. I find it to be the most difficult meal of the day, don’t you? I personally just love to eat eggs and toast but unfortunately for me, I’ve been cursed by my thyroid to not be able to have gluten for fear I may lose my thyroid. So, small loses I suppose in consideration.

Anyway, Organika here in Cusco has a lot of gluten-free options. I was perusing their menu (Online! See? Smart people) only to find that they didn’t upload their breakfast menu. I’m a little disappointed but I’ll tell you what I remember.

I went with my family who also eat mostly gluten-free (Except for my Dad who cheats). We ordered the Quinoa Pancakes, one poached eggs on toast, one scrambled eggs on gluten-free bread, and one poached eggs on gluten-free bread.

They had almond milk for cappuccinos which was absolutely delectable. (They were frothy and delicious.)

Gluten-Free and Vegetarian Options

Their menu has little signs on it with vegetarian and gluten-free options. Happiness!

They serve breakfast, lunch, and possibly dinner. I’m pretty sure they serve dinner anyway. Lol.

For some strange reason, they don’t have their breakfast menu on their website??? I don’t know. They do serve breakfast. So, do with that as you will.

My Drawbacks

I don’t like the taste of quinoa. It has that… nasty, bitter taste to it. I do my best to stay away from the grain and flour as best I can. So, the quinoa pancakes were a little funky tasting. Oh. I remember why they tasted kinda funny! I remember! (What a miracle.) It’s because they made a honey sauce, which was a great idea but badly executed. I’m like 98% sure that they left the rinds of the oranges in the syrup as they cooked it. I’m all for orange flavor. I love it but it was bitter… and combined with Quinoa pancakes that are usually bitter… it kind of just missed the target unfortunately. They weren’t bad… just definitely could have been better.

I did like the gluten-free toast. It could have used some more salt in the batter but low salt is good, I suppose.

Also! Why did they serve salad for a breakfast side? I remember being like?? Why. Hahaha not that there’s anything wrong with salad but it’s not really a breakfast thing. At least, not in my books. But hey.

But other than that guys, it’s great. Good poached eggs, good service, nice place to eat.

Will I go back to Organika? At some point.

6.5 out of 10.

Let me know if you go! I want to know what you got and how it went.
